Since the inception of the center in March 2018, EALC1 has been able to provide opportunities for education to children from the undocumented community within the vicinity of Sg Udang, Klang. To date, there are 35 students in the center with 27 of them in kindergarten express class whilst the remaining are literacy students. There are presently 5 teachers and 1 helper in the center. Most of the students are from the Cambodia Champa community with a handful from Indonesia and Myanmar.

Recently the center celebrated Children’s Day on 30 October 2018. Most of the students have never heard of Children’s Day so the celebration was very special for them. They learned some art and craft and were treated to a sumptuous meal along with receiving a goodies bag. We are very grateful to those who have contributed generously to make this a special celebration for the students.

We are excited that 10 students from the kindergarten express class will be promoted to Year 1 in ElShaddai Refugee Learning Center (ERLC) while another 2 from the literacy class will be transferred to Year 2 and Year 4 respectively at ERLC in year 2019. This is an important milestone both for the students and their parents as they witnessed progress and transformation in the child’s life. For the center, we hope that the students’ achievement will motivate other parents within the community to give their children an opportunity for education in our center.
