Since the month of June this year, you can always smell the fragrance of breads and pastries from the annex of one of the lodging houses of ElShaddai located in Klang.

That’s where you can find our freshly established baking centre – House of Bread.

House of Bread is another newly developed social enterprise arm under ElShaddai Centre Berhad. It is a community project which targets refugees, asylum seekers or undocumented groups who are unable to secure permanent employment due to their identity issues.

This project equips individuals who have great interests and/or students who are keen to learn a skill with some basic baking skills and enables them to earn a supplementary income from the sales of our product range including breads, pastries, cakes and others. We wish to empower these marginalized groups with some livelihood skills that can provide sustainability irrespective of where they will be in time to come. We even wish to instil of some natural enterprenur spirit among them and to help them achieve a higher success.

At this very initial stage, we are going around to different churches to promote our House of Bread and its products. However, in order to sustain the business in long term, we are constantly looking at suitable marketing strategies including make-to-order and events catering as well as product development of gift boxes.
If you are interested to make a difference, connect with us today! We are constantly on the lookout for sponsors and like-minded partners to come alongside us in this journey of empowering the marginalized diaspora groups in Malaysia.

“You should have brought more to sell at our church! Now you see everything has gone in minutes. Next round when you return again, you must let me know earlier so that I can pre-book with you!” said R, one of the church members we visited recently.
