2021 Highlights and Plans for 2022

2021 has been nothing short of an adventure for the whole ElShaddai Centre team- from the continuous challenges arising from the Covid-19 pandemic, to embracing new frontiers and challenges. We are proud to share with you that we not only survive the year, but have also grown in all 4 areas of our work.

EDUCATION
ElShaddai Centre currently runs 18 centres in total – 3 main centres, 12 sub-centres, and 3 partnership centres – across the Klang Valley and other parts of Malaysia. We provide education to around 1,400 students from kindergarten to tertiary levels in 2021.

In partnership with eGraduate College UK, the new ElShaddai E-Graduate Centre provides online tertiary education opportunities for IGCSE and high school graduates from the diaspora community.

Currently, we are offering courses that are in the shortage occupation list in the UK or other Commonwealth countries, like Health and Social Care, Information Technology, and Business Management.

HEALTHCARE
Our team recognizes the multiple challenges faced by the diaspora communities in this pandemic season. As such, we distributed 1,800 sets of Covid-19 antigen rapid test kit to the community and facilitated Covid-19 vaccination for around 1,500 individuals, including our own students.

SOCIAL WORK

Previously named as “Relief”, this area of ElShaddai Centre service has now expanded to more than providing temporary relief to families in need. We have provided financial help and provision to over 8,000 families across Malaysia, who are from 20 nationalities. This includes families from the Klang Valley, other parts of West Malaysia, and Sabah.

As we engage deeper with the communities, we recognize the need to provide holistic support and care to families. Over 100 families were provided with case management services and food relief, medical and healthcare support, counselling and psychosocial support, livelihood, skill training and enhancement, protection and legal support. In 2022, we aim to provide social, emotional and spiritual support to communities, on top of the ongoing Post-Covid Restoration Project we are carrying out.

SKILL TRAINING

We launched the Air-con Service and Repair Training in 2021 to empower diaspora youths and adults to be able to sustain themselves in the long term. We have trained 10 youths in total since we launched.

We are proud to announce that our training will be endorsed by Training Qualifications UK (TQUK) in 2022.
