After an unexpected and unfortunate incident involving my mother, I found myself living in a shelter. Although I was grateful to have a place to stay, I was also experiencing a mix of emotions. At that point in my life, I felt numb and had difficulty eating for about a month. However, the support and kindness that I received from the people at the shelter helped me feel better, and I eventually found some peace.
During my stay in the shelter, I had an enjoyable experience overall. I made many friends, including sisters, and created numerous memorable moments there. It was a place where everyone seemed to understand and appreciate each other’s company. We had a tradition of celebrating Thanksgiving every Saturday night and would go out together during holidays. We did everything as a group, which was a great bonding experience.
After my mother was discharged from the hospital, we moved back to the shelter. We stayed there for a year before getting assistance from ElShaddai Centre and my school, which enabled us to move out and live independently. As time passed, we grew more accustomed to our new home and began to feel more comfortable.
Everything I have faced so far has made me a stronger person. I would not have been able to get through these challenges without God, who has always been there for me and the people who have helped me. They have supported me physically, spiritually, and financially. They always remember us in their prayers and check in on me regularly. My mother and I are extremely grateful for everything they have done for us.
