ElShaddai Centre’s collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy has been a cornerstone of our efforts to support undocumented Indonesian children born in Malaysia and their families. This partnership was recently recognized through the Outstanding Partnership Award 2024, highlighting our collective achievements in key areas:

1. Assisting with the Registration of Indonesian Children
One of the critical challenges faced by migrant families in Malaysia is ensuring their children have proper documentation. Through our partnership with the Indonesian Embassy, ElShaddai Centre has facilitated the registration of 23 Indonesian children under our care in 2024.
On top of that, we also ran awareness programs for 80 people, and successfully repatriated 43 individuals back to Indonesia. By encouraging parents to register their children, we help ensure their access to education, healthcare, and future opportunities.

2. Expanding Educational Opportunities: Sanggar Bimbingan Program
Education remains at the heart of our efforts. In March 2024, we launched the Sanggar Bimbingan program in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy. This program provides Bahasa Indonesia and Civics education to Indonesian students, enabling them to obtain certification from the embassy that facilitates a smooth transition back into the Indonesian education system.
Currently, the Sanggar Bimbingan program operates in three locations.
With over 100 students enrolled, the program ensures that Indonesian children receive quality education despite being away from their home country. The classes are conducted by two teachers from Indonesia and an Indonesian community worker, with support from ICC and ElShaddai Centre’s learning centre.
3. Supporting Families in Transition: Relocation Assistance
ElShaddai Centre, in partnership with the Indonesian Embassy, also provides relocation assistance for families who wish to return to Indonesia. In 2024, we facilitated the relocation of five families, including the R’s family, whose story highlights the importance of continued support.
The Journey of R’s Family: A New Beginning in Malang
R, a mother of eight children, returned to Indonesia in December 2024 with the support of a pastor in Malang. Currently, the family is staying with the pastor and working towards rebuilding their lives. However, they still require assistance for housing, education, and healthcare.
Unfortunately, some of R’s children have health issues, with one of them being hospitalized. As they adjust to life back in Indonesia, our continued community support is crucial in ensuring their well-being as they rebuild their life.

A Stronger Future Through Partnership
ElShaddai Centre is deeply grateful for the Indonesian Embassy’s recognition and support. Together, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of Indonesian children and their families in Malaysia. By providing educational opportunities, legal assistance, and relocation support, we aim to create a future where every child has the chance to thrive.
We look forward to further strengthening our partnership and expanding our initiatives to reach even more families in need.
