COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT- Hospitality Project

We piloted a new cultural hospitality initiative for refugee communities in Ampang.
ElShaddai Centre works with selected refugee families, enabling them to host guests
for meals while sharing about their home countries and experiences as refugees.
Through the program, refugee hosts are empowered to showcase the riches of their
culture, grow their communication skills, and supplement their income. As a form of

advocacy, the programme also gives visitors a deeper understanding of refugee-
related issues. It guides them towards greater preparedness for cross-cultural

engagement. Within four months of project initiation, six host families from 3 ethnic
groups have benefited from the programme, hosting 83 visitors from 6 nationalities.
