ElShaddai Centre’s holistic approach to community development is well-illustrated
through our close engagement with the K family. The family of seven has been in
Malaysia for nine years and has faced financial challenges, especially since their father
is unable to work due to medical issues. The team has had the opportunity to journey
with them in various ways. Their mother attends our English language classes, and four
of the children are regular attendees of the NewRoots Youth Club, where they have
been given leadership opportunities. From time to time, ElShaddai Centre provides
financial support for the family through our Cash-Based Intervention programme. At the
same time, we continue to work with them to engage in income-generating projects,
including our cultural hospitality initiative.

Covid-19 and ElShaddai Education
2020 would have been filled with many exciting programmes at ElShaddai Refugee Learning Centre (ERLC). Unfortunately, Covid-19 happened, and even the very much awaited Sports Day of 17 April had to be cancelled. The Movement
