The Ampang Sewing Centre is the latest social enterprise project of ElShaddai. Started on 1st July 2019, this center caters to the Hazara Community in the Ampang area. The Hazara community is blessed with professional tailors and seamstresses who can turn out very high-quality work. The Sewing Center provides this group of refugees and asylum seekers an opportunity to eke out a living with their skills. This centre welcomes sewing projects from both walk-in customers and sewing projects from retail designers. The variety of projects involved garment alteration, customization of garments, sewing of graduation gowns, novel retail items and uniforms. Our latest exciting project involves developing our own retail products with various designs of tote bags and pouches, as well as products handcrafted from recycled materials. These retail products, branded “The Craft Shop” have been pivotal in providing job opportunities for women working from home. How you can support this work?
- By purchasing our products at church events, expat bazaars, NGO events. One such venue will be at “If Only Café” at Regal House, Jalan U-Thant (starting November 2019). We are grateful to a kind customer and sponsor who has given us the usage of this space.
- By connecting us with entities (e.g. corporates, shops or even individuals) which will be interested in our products.
