Vaping and its Dangers 2025

The Social Work Department took the initiative to address a growing concern among teenagers and adolescents in our education centres regarding vaping. Reports surfaced that several students were actively using vape devices. After conducting a survey, the team discovered significant misconceptions. Some students believed vaping made them look “cool,” while others assumed it could help them focus on their studies.

Recognising the serious impact this could have on students’ physical and
psychological well-being, as well as the strong influence of social pressure and peer dynamics, the Social Work Department developed an educational intervention. The sessions exposed students to the realities of vaping, its chemical content, its harmful effects on the body and mind, and the real dangers of overdose, including the
potential for fatal consequences.

The social work department aims to be a third force in community development, identifying concerns that arise directly from the community and providing localised interventions tailored to their specific needs.

Testimony – from a Volunteer

“The students who attended the antivaping program were highly engaged and attentive throughout. The session provided them with valuable insights and practical strategies to recognize and respond to unhealthy trends like vaping in their environment. It was encouraging to see how seriously they took the message and how empowered they felt afterward. ”
