Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP): Visionary Expansion
One of the major highlights this year was the expansion of our in-house Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP) curriculum to five different locations beyond the first ALP learning centre. This strategic move made education accessible to a greater number of overaged children. The ALP programme not only shortens the time for primary education but also helps untrained teachers perform better with guided help, tackling two major challenges faced by alternative learning centres providing education to the displaced and marginalised. This year, twenty students graduated from the ALP in Klang, and eighteen students passed the entrance exam to continue secondary education.
Recognition must be given to Ms. Wendy, who spent countless hours and effort analysing the Cambridge Primary Curriculum and assembling the text for students, as well as guides, schemes of work, and examination papers for teachers. The success stories emerging from this programme serve as a testament to the positive impact of our efforts on the lives of countless deprived children.
Elevating Education Through Systematic Teacher Training
Recognising the crucial role of teachers and the insurmountable need for learning centres, ElShaddai Centre has intensified its focus on teacher training. This year, we launched the L4 Diploma teacher education programme to train teachers systematically and professionally.
The goal of this initiative is not only to elevate the quality of education but also to create an inspiring and a supportive environment for both teachers and students. As we equip our teachers with the tools and knowledge necessary to excel in their roles, we believe that the ripple effect will be felt in the enhanced learning experiences of the children under their guidance.
Holistic Transformation: Integrating Education with Healthcare and Social Work
In our pursuit of empowering and creating holistic transformation, ElShaddai Centre recognises that academic excellence is just one facet of a child’s development, especially in marginalised communities. Therefore, integration with other services like healthcare and social work is enhanced. This strategic collaboration ensures that our students not only excel academically but also acquire important life skills and receive awareness education crucial for their overall well-being.
