During the MCO period, many families of the Suluk and Bajau communities were affected. With the contribution from generous donors, ElShaddai Sabah has provided groceries, vouchers and medicine to the needy.
After the long MCO break, KPD Learning Centre and Aman Learning Centre reopened on Tuesday, 26 January 2021. The children were happy to be back to school. There are about 140 students in KPD Learning Centre and about 45 in Aman Learning Centre. Classes are held on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 8 am to 12 noon. With support from generous donors, school shoes and slippers were distributed to the students and children in nearby villages. Vegetables and bread were regularly distributed to students and villagers too. A donor blessed two classes in KPD Learning Centre with new desks , and another donated badminton rackets and shuttlecocks.
Donors occasionally also bless the students with lunch, gifts, relief and bread. From 29 March 2021, ElShaddai Sabah has started to train teachers to better equip them with skills in teaching and classroom management. The teachers learn how to understand and deal with any issues of the students, to teach effectively for the different subjects using new curriculum materials.
ElShaddai Sabah has a total of 7 teachers in the two learning centres. We regularly have trainings for them on Mondays and Fridays in order to upgrade their teaching skills and they enjoy the trainings especially in the use of Good Curriculum for English learning.
From 19 to 20 May 2021, exams were held for both learning centres. Prizes were awarded to students with the best results, excellent attendance record and excellent cleaning efforts. Certificates were issued to all these students.
