Child Protection (CP) and Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) Training 2025

In 2025, our Child Protection and “Know Your Rights” program continued to deepen its impact among children and families in our community. This year, we took a significant step forward by integrating CP and PSEA into our school curriculum. In Excel, our secondary school, these lessons were embedded into the Character Studies syllabus, helping students understand respect, boundaries, and personal
safety in their daily lives.

For the younger students at PRIME, we began working closely with our volunteer Janice, to develop age-appropriate CP lessons for Year 1 to Year 5. We are also especially grateful to Amy, our volunteer from Singapore, who not only helped design the new syllabus but also travelled here to conduct meaningful sessions on child protection and sexual education. Her energetic, engaging approach created a safe space for students to explore important topics that are often overlooked.

In September, we conducted CP and PSEA trainings for refugee community leaders and focal point partners from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The goal was not only to equip leaders with essential knowledge and skills but also to empower them to better support and safeguard their communities.

Our hope is to continue building a culture of safety and empowerment, one where
every child grows up knowing they are valued, protected, and free to dream.

A reflection from one of the participants, Tina:

“Attending the CP Training at Elshaddai in September 2025 was an eye-opening and deeply impactful experience. It helped me understand the importance of creating a safe environment for every child. I learned about the different ways a child can be abused by teachers, friends, close relatives, and others. The training taught me how to recognise signs of abuse, respond appropriately, and take preventive steps, even within refugee communities. It also reminded me thatchild protection is a personal responsibility, as every child deserves love, respect, and care. The interactive case studies helped me understand the root causes of abuse and apply practical strategies to handle such situations effectively.”
